ABOUT THE FLASH CLASSROOM SITE

Welcome to the Flash Classroom site.  There are heaps of fantastic Flash tutorial and resource sites on the web, but this is the one that's devoted to the use of Adobe Flash in P-12 classrooms.   This site aims to provide educators and students with the support, resources and inspiration they need to exploit the full potential of Flash in the classroom.

The Flash Classroom was officially launched in 2004 and today holds a large collection of resources for all versions of Flash that have been released since this time.   These resources share my expertise and experiences with Flash and are the result of my nine years of tinkering, creating and learning with Flash.   All of the resources are created with great care and with the hope that they will be used in a classroom somewhere in the world to help students develop a love of learning and ofcourse a love of Flash.

I invest quite a lot of my spare time building this site because I believe in the potential of Flash for use across P-12 educational contexts.   I believe that Flash is an outstanding tool to use with with students and to create digital content for use with students in both ICT classes and standard classrooms.

I have found that Flash is powerful in these environments because:

  • students creating Flash projects participate in authentic planning processes;
  • the development of a project in Flash naturally leads to students engaging in a design, make and appraise process (or IDPE process as outlined in the QSA Technology KLA);
  • it challenges students and requires them to engage in problem solving;
  • it provides students with tools to communicate ideas and information in creative ways;
  • it requires students to think both logically and creatively;
  • it is a highly engaging program that is challenging and rewarding;

  teach concepts across the KLAs.  This
  activity involved students mixing

The two main features of this site are our tutorial collection and our gallery.  Our tutorial collection is designed to cater for different learning styles by offering both Watch & Learn Demonstrations and downloadable step-by-step PDF tutorials.   These tutorials cover a range of different ideas and contain learning activities that have been tried and tested with students.

Our gallery has been set up to showcase work done in Flash by students and teachers in P-12 settings.   We are always on the lookout for contributions to this section of our site, so check out the Gallery Submissions page if you'd like us to showcase your work.

The Flash Classroom site will be constantly changing and growing so that we can share the new and innovative ways teachers and students are using this technology.   We hope you will join our learning community by visiting the site often and sharing your own work in this area.
