HIDDEN OBJECTS GAMES

This gallery section contains examples of games showing an environment where objects have been hidden.   These games are relatively easy to make and their complexity depends on how much time you spend designing the environment.

'WACKY PLACE'
Developed by Kristine Kopelke

This activity is part of a learning objects collection I have created for the ESL intensive language class at Woree State School.  It is designed for use with an interactive whiteboard or data projector and aims to help students develop oral language skills.  The focus is on positional language and vocabulary relating to home environments.   To learn how to make this type of game, follow the steps in the Make a Hidden Objects Game tutorial that is available in our Flash Classroom tutorial collection.

'OPERATION GREEN FIX'
Developed by Ramona Gerber - Year 9 -  Cooktown State School &
Michelle Whitlock - Year 9 - Malanda State High School

This game was developed as part of the Girls Into Games Camp.  It has been designed to communicate the message that rubbish should be placed in a bin rather than just left in the environment.  The player must find the hidden rubbish in the bush and place it into the bin.  The player earns points for each piece of rubbish.   The girls created every aspect of this game including the music.   The music was made using FL Studio 5.    The photograph is of the rainforest area within the Cairns School of Distance Education grounds.

'GARDEN CRITTERS'
Developed by Kristine Kopelke

This game was created as a demonstration game for a Flash Classroom professional development workshop.   This game was relatively easy to make with the time consuming part being the development of the graphics.    All of the graphics have been drawn in Flash and have been converted to movie symbols.  Each critter movie symbol has been given an instance name between bug0 to bug6.   A movieclip containing actionscript is sitting just off the edge of the stage, out of view from the game player.   The actionscript that is used creates an array that tracks how many bugs the user has located.   It sets the colour of each bug to white when they are clicked and also jumps the user to the final scene once it shows the user has collected all seven bugs.   To learn how to make this type of game, follow the steps in the Make a Hidden Objects Game tutorial that is available in our Flash Classroom tutorial collection.
